Frequently Asked Questions
Kindred Church is part of C3 Church Global, a movement of 500+ churches in 65 countries. Within C3 Global, we are accountable to multi- level oversight through weekly reporting, and each C3 church agrees to a statement of faith and financial guidelines. Pastors Tyler and Ema have pastoral oversight from both C3 Global and C3 Americas at a regional level. Kindred Church also has an independent board for additional oversight at a local level.
Our board meets quarterly to review the health of the church, as well as financial decisions for staff, capital expenditure and expenses. All decisions are discussed and voted on by the board.
The budget is set in alignment with the vision of Pastors Tyler and Ema in order to reach more people for Christ and grow the church. The budget is set every year approved by the board. Budgets are based on the needs of each ministry, department and team.
Tithes and offerings—which are received through tithe.ly, cash and checks all of which are deposited into our main Vystar bank account. This account is used for all general expenses of the church. Legacy Builders is our separate fund for our future permanent building. Donations are deposited into a separate high interest savings account with Wesleyan Investment Foundation (restricted fund), which used for this purpose. We also have an additional high interest savings account with Wesleyan Investment Foundation, where we move any budget surplus.
We use tithe.ly (giving platform) for record keeping so that all records are kept accurate and secure. At any time, Kindred can provide a giving record or you can use your own login to see your giving to Kindred. After the end of the year, a giving statement is sent out for that year, as we are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
We use QuickBooks as our accounting software as well as well as a bookkeeping company called Steadfast Bookkeeping who reconcile our accounts weekly. Per the expenditures policy, a receipt is required for any purchase made.
